Zoning Note - Town Border Setbacks

Clayton and Lyme should pay close attention to this one.

Here is the language of our Cape Vincent zoning regarding wind turbine setbacks from the Clayton and Lyme town borders.

[f] In order to ensure that residents of adjoining Towns of Lyme and Clayton are not negatively affected by any WECS proposed in the Town of Cape Vincent, any WECS near the Town’s boundaries shall comply with the Noise Standards in Section 6.7 and shall be no closer than six times the total height of the proposed WECS to that boundary.

Now within CV the setbacks are 1.25 miles from schools and the village border, and the Seaway Trail.  But the citizens in Lyme and Clayton along the CV borders must be second class citizens.

Turbines are setback 2 miles from the water to protect us "wealthy CV  seasonals" who pay those high taxes (thank you CV town board, I'm glad my wealthy status and taxes bought me some further setbacks) but if you are in Lyme or Clayton on the CV border you get a setback of only 6 times a turbine height!  For the proposed  BP 500 footers that is equal to about 3000 ft. or .56 miles.  Are the Lyme and Clayton people second class citizens and only get about a half mile of protection???? Have you ever stood 1/2 mile from  huge operating industrial wind turbines?  Look across the river...that is 2 miles and further. Gee I don't know are there any negative impacts from the Wolfe Is. turbines at 2 miles????  Ask the realtors!

Do the math... A 10th of a mile is 528 ft.  So your are going to allow a monster 500 ft.  industrial wind turbine which sticks up almost a tenth of a mile into the sky, and then the people in adjacent  Lyme and Clayton with a 1/2 mile setback are supposed to applaud your zoning expertise as  some kind of zoning gift from the CV zoning experts to protect adjacent towns?????

Zoning note to town board:  Would any of YOU who live in the village or on the waterfront accept living 3000 ft. from  huge 500 ft. wind turbines?

Well like I said at least the high taxes I pay have bought me  and my "wealthy" seasonal river friends a better class of protection!

Mr. Bob Brown the chairman of the CV zoning committee and the town board have told us repeatedly this law is all about the CV citizens health safety and welfare...yup...just as much as you can personally afford!!!

But hey...at least we are being "reasonable" to Art. X!!!  And if you are going to be "reasonable" you have to sacrifice somebody.... right?

  4. Well you have had your fun. Hope you enjoyed it. But your attempts to say or imply I am trying to help the pro wind govt is a lie. Plus you don't have the balls to put your name on your comments.

To sum it up that makes you a spineless liar. I don't like spineless liars nor do I intend to continue to give one a forum.
