Wind Zoning Notes Continue - The 1.25 mile "Protective" Setback From The Seawy Trail Along Rt 12E.

Below is what our Cape Vincent Zoning says about the scenic protection of the Seaway Trail from industrial wind development. This should really be put in a zoning museum somewhere!

"7) In recognition of the value and importance of the Town’s historical and scenic assets, WECSs shall be setback at least 1.25 miles from NY State Route 12E, the Seaway Trail and National Scenic Byway. (Appendix 9, Large Scale WECS Exclusion Map.) "

Zoning note to CV Town board and Zoning Committee:

You people really need spend some time in E. End park looking across the river at the Wolfe Island Wind Plant that is at least 2 miles away!!!!

Apparently the CV zoning experts feel the W.I. wind plant at 2 miles and more has had absolutely NO impact on the scenic resources of Cape Vincent and the 1000 Is....and all we need is 1.25 miles.  This is what I voted for????? Come on, seriously????

Your 1.25 mile setback to protect the scenic assets of the town isn't "recognition"...it's a bad joke.  And it is mind boggling you don't recognize that!!!  This is the "tizzy" Art. 10 has you "zoning experts" running around  in thinking traditional zoning will effectively control massive invasive structures like industrial wind turbines.

Below is a picture taken from County Rt.  6 in CV. looking at the Wolfe Is. Wind Plant.  I apologize to the photographer because I don't remember who sent me this.

The turbines in this picture are approximately 4.5 and more miles away from the camera using Google Earth measuring tools! And our town board thinks 1.25 miles is a "scenic protection".

Geees I feel like  I am back in the old wind battle days.  This is the nonsense  I used to  trying to explain to Tom  Rienbeck  and Rich Edsall!!!

Now some people think that if we get the Art. X siting board to agree to let our law stand that this is somehow a huge victory for "home rule".  Seriously. This goofy 1.25 mile "scenic protection" setback is actually the "home rule" you would be all excited about and running around trying to defend????

Sounds more like a home rule scam to me!!!

Zoning note to town board:  Get a freakin GPS and actually measure 1.25 miles from a 500 ft. wind turbine...not to mention hundreds of them!!!!
