There has been some interesting Article X discussion on the
Cape Vincent blogs. Dave Lamora’s letter
to the WDT on Article X spurred
discussion on the JLL blog site which we should follow. Today on Pandor’s K has a very interesting
post on the influence of corporate money on the NY PSC in their decisions on the regulations of Article X. This is
definitely a post you should read. I
noted one paragraph in this article. The author states his opinion below.
“After submitting exhausting documentation and constructive
comments that urged minimum industry manufacturers own standards, protective
noise restrictions and siting distances to ensure the public health and safety,
and meaningful citizen participation involvement in permitting approval; the
permanent Siting Board for Article X ignored all improvements to their draft
regulations.”
Funny thing …did anybody say this would happen and
that all these letters sent to the PSC by wishful CV letter writers was pretty
much a waste of paper and expensive printer ink.
Now I took
some heat on my blog for not writing the PSC suggesting changes to the Article
X regulations. I felt it was pointless
in the face of big corporate money controlling the system. Once again using an
inappropriate tool for the task at hand.
Seems the author of the article on Pandora’s agrees.
In essence
trying to drive a big nail with a small screw driver. If we are going to oppose Article X, let’s at
least wake up and do something relevant!!!
Where is that “ revolution” against A-10 everybody has been talking about? Once again I
will ask, where is the town board resolution opposing Article X?
If the town board doesn’t support any opposition to Article X in a very
visible manner then any revolution against
A-10 is a waste of our time. So ask yourself, why is the town board endorsing and
participating in the Article X process.
Why are the other towns around us under A-10 threat doing the same to
appease the very process everyone is scared to death will take away our rights.
Sadly CV is a microcosm of the same process, without
the big lobby money. Seems as though we went through pretty much
the same process on the Cape Vincent zoning committee. It was set in stone from before day one and
not much has changed in that law since.
And finally one more picture of the Cape Vincent beauty
now owned by the Article X siting board and BP.
Is protecting this worth a revolutions and standing our ground, or
should we write pointless letters and futilely attempt to appease the big
corporate money process that could take this regional beauty away from all of
us.
