Let me make a couple things clear. First despite the
desperate attempts of one or two commenters to align me with the pro wind side,
there isn’t enough money on the planet that would convince me to support the circus act of characters put forth by CFG. But that is just dumbing it down to some soap opera so some of you can comprehend!
And the series of zoning discussions I have put forward are
not about discrediting the current govt.
That too is a simpleton’s view of the issues from both the pro and anti
wind camp in attempts by both sides to polarize an important issue and dumb it
down to political group think in an
election year so people who can’t think for themselves can pick something
simple and not too confusing to stand behind.
My point here is to expose how our govt, as well as other
local govts have been so manipulated by
the State they have become frantic and irrational in their attempts to try put forth a façade of
control over the wind issue and it’s zoning when in fact they don’t have any
control. The State removed it!
In our local governments desperation to appease the insidious State and corporate manipulation and removal of home rule on wind regulation, our
zoning attempts have become irrational, inconsistent, and illogical. Rather
than take a stand and do the obvious to prohibit this insane wind onslaught
that will destroy our communities and region, and the removal of our critical
rights, our town govts are caught in a desperate situation. They are trying to do an impossible balancing act on a thin high
wire trying to look anti wind and pro wind in the same instant, when ironically
they don’t even get to make the final decision. It’s like there is a tornado coming and we are
going to have the picnic anyhow, because we have this picnic every year at this
time come hell or high water. The real
point being that to try to use traditional zoning practices simply does not
work ,nor is it even relevant to controlling 500 ft. monster moving flashing
structures in any landscape, not to mention one of incredible scenic beauty and
environmental importance, or one where nearly the entire economy depends on
that quality. And BOTH sides in this
debate, the Hirschey govt. AND CFG think it is a relevant zoning practice for what can't be zone BOTH SIDES!!! Please note that our CURRENT zoning by our CURRENT govt. ALLOWS wind development!!!
Our election sare nothing more than bickering over HOW MUCH the town will be destroyed, a little or a lot or something yet to be defined by the State! That isn't an election, it's a community suicide pact!
And both sides and the State are trying to convince you to close your eyes and pull the trigger!!!
Wake up and look across the River…the entire zoning paradigm
has radically changed with the introduction of industrial wind, yet we still zone like
these monsters are just back yard sheds, or a new deck that when you drive around the corner no one will see!
With 500 ft. monster structures that can be seen for 30 miles, typical zoning districts for protection NO LONGER COUNT! Not only will they not count in your town, they won't count for numerous towns around you. But both sides in this election, and no matter who is elected will still ticker around with them like they are somehow relevant.
Seriously, allow 400 or 500 ft. monster, moving, flashing
structures radically changing the entire character and beauty of the town and
region , and then zone out a logo on that structure because you are worried
about the visual aesthetic impact…get real!!!
And this somehow actually makes you think you have control over your community?????
Sorry folks, but whether it be CV, Clayton, Hammond or any other town,
or whether it be pro wind or anti wind , that zoning reasoning is sheer
stupidity and is one graphic demonstration
of just how far the State’s threat of Art.10 has manipulated and distorted our
thought processes of supposedly rational smart people.
The debate is not about some election, or some local
political action group, or cast of characters, who have already had their
rights removed and their simplified ideas to cling to. If
that is what you require to remain politically and mentally comfortable under the State’s rights onslaught
then you can do whatever you need to do to characterize me one way or the other or dumb
this down to whatever level makes you happy.
This is not about Hirschey, or CFG. Hirschey just happens to
be in power at the moment.
It is about how the
State has turned us ALL into brainless automatons to level the field from any real opposition
for run amuck corporate political power to erase our community and environment!
If we are going to actually save ourselves and our region, we have to get
out of this fruitless election box hoopla about a cast of soap opera
characters, BOTH of whom WILL zone from wind development.
With the entire 1000 Islands region in the balance we have
to get out of this box and juvenile thinking that our town zoned our turbines better than your
turbines, ha ha ha , when the real point is if we zoned for the placement of
industrial wind development at all we have ALL been deluded by the State.
As communities we better make the critical zoning paradigm shift real soon or no matter who is elected there will be NO hope for our region.
The zoning notes will continue!
"As communities we better make the critical zoning paradigm shift real soon or no matter who is elected there will be NO hope for our region."
ReplyDeleteThe zoning is all messed up. It has to be put aside then when Grant, Wood and Aubertine get elected, it will be revamped.
Thanks Art.
