From the Beauty of the Mojave Desert, to the Beauty of Cape Vincent, to the Beauty of the Mountains of the West

Just For  a Change of Pace From the CV Wind Fiasco

The Sierra Nevada Mts. Ca.  Finally, a  clear morning after being
trapped in a tent in a winter  storm  for 30 hours.
The mountains John Muir loved so much.

Skiing across 11,000 ft Piute Pass on a five day ski crossing of the Sierras.

My climbing partner on 13,000 ft. Storm Peak in
the Colorado Rockies.  The small black dot just out by
his left  hand holding the rope is our tent far below.

Decsending from climbing  the technical East Ridge Route on Mt. Whitney
in the Sierras.  The highest point in the lower 48.  14,495 ft.
I was a lot younger then.  Had a lot more hair too.(on my head!)

At 50 years old  with my wife Lorna and  and a friend  on the
second Trans-Sierra 5 day ski trip.  OK boys.  My wife
carried a 40lb pack and out skied all the men on the trip including me!!!

Another Mt storm.  Compared to this, sleeping in the back of a pickup
truck in the Mojave is pure luxury!!!! We were in a safe spot.
but we found out the next morning a large avalanche had come
down aboutt 100 yards from our camp.

And Cape Vincent is still one of my most
                                             favorite places and experiences!!!!
