Going on a desert trip for a little while. Going to a place
that is the complete opposite of the "watery" 1000 Islands and just as
beautiful. I like the contrast and balance Won't be blogging since where
we are going there isn't usually cell coverage or Internet. Just the way I like it!!
But don't give up. Will be back soon and be back at it!
In the mean time thanks for visiting and enjoy the pictures.
Pictures are from various remote places we like to wander in the the S. Ca. Mojave Desert. Sadly this place is under the same indusrial wind threat. I just can't get away from it!! And NO the desert is not just a big empty bleak ugly place where it would be OK to put wind turbines. They don't belong here either, maybe even more so than Cape Vincent. Notice the blue sky. Massive sprawling industrial solar projects are a threat here for obvious reasons, and even now the Sierra Club is starting to get the picture, that after all their efforts to save the desert and its fragile ecosystem, that we should not be crapping it up with rampant renewable projects that can be seen for many many miles. Visibilties here can reach close to 100 miles under the right conditions. At night you can see the light pollution from Las Vegas at 100 miles as well. The night skies are nearly pristine here. The Acciona Solar One project south of Las Vegas when seen from a distant vantage point in the day looks like a huge lake in the middle of the desert due to its mirrors, and looks badly out of place. It's a mirage...just like their industrial wind energy. You go up to it to quench your terrible thirst, and there isn't anything there....except an illusion!
Back soon!
And remember...all who wander are not lost!
