Recently the Cape Vincent Town Board has requested the Clayton Town Board send a letter of support for the CV zoning law in reference to wind zoning regulations to the NYPSC and Art. X.
As a result a debate has started among some on the Clayton Town Board as to whether the setbacks from the River in the CV law are protective enough of the view shed. Some of this started when Richard Chandler the BP project manager told Clayton..."Guess what boys and girls...yup, you are going to see our 500 ft. monsters from Clayton and the 1000 Islands."
Now Clayton likes to think it is on the high road. But the reality is when BP and Iberdrola get done with their industrial zones, big setbacks aren't going to make much difference either especially if you are a viewer from the southern sides of Grindstone Is. or other 1000 Islands for example.
Anyhow, since CV is asking Clayton for support of its wind zoning, I thought I might take a closer look at what CV is asking Clayton to support before the NYPSC. Does it make sense??? Is it rational? What specifically in our zoning is CV actually asking CV to support???
Since we all know CV councilman Clif Schneider and Planning Board member Bob Brown are the zoning gurus at the heart of the CV zoning (not to diminish the efforts of others) I thought I would make a few zoning notes to them on my findings and observations in some up coming posts. Hey, I have been studying this wind zoning issue too for seven years!
Some posts have already started below.
