A couple posts ago I put up this map so people could see visually what the Cape Vincent Zoning Board was suggesting as SOME of their set back ideas. SOME...NOT ALL!!!
I fully realize that there are going to be other parameters as well like a "safety zone" near Rosiere, or a a "safety zone" around residences from ice and blade throw, or a zone around schools to eliminate distraction etc. I understand that. However, right now those extra zones were not defined with any specific distances. Your safety zone and my safety zone and the committee's safety zone could be very different. We will see what comes out in the future.
What the committee did talk about in more concrete terms was the 3 mile set back from the shore lines and the 1.5 mile set back from 12E, so I decided to put those on a map so at least people could see that much of the discussion so far. And what we have SO FAR in the start of the discussion is turbines being shoved back into the interior of CV. I assume we will soon see how that area gets divided up with other setbacks. But I tend to interpret this move by the zoning committee as follows. We will shove the turbines back on people in the interior, and away from the people on the shore and in the village...THEN we will see what else we might do to protect them. They could have said they would spread the impact out evenly so everybody in the town shares it equally...THEN we will see what we can do about further protections...wonder why they didn't do that???!!! I could be wrong but I don't think anybody on the town boards or committees live in the area hashed on the map beyond the setbacks. Maybe we should start around the Tibbetts Pt. Rd. and the Village THEN see what other protections we can come up with!!!!After all the wind is good out there!
BTW...the red dots represent the BP project at one time a couple years ago, and the blue dots represent the Acciona turbines.
